Asia Travel Guides
Last checked: October 2026
Our Asia travel guides cover nine destinations across South and Southeast Asia. Each one has a visa guide, best places, a month-by-month calendar, itineraries, hotels and flights. Start with the visa and safety notes, because entry rules and government advisories vary widely by country, then check the monsoon and heat seasons.

Safety and Visas Come First
Governments rate some Asian destinations at much higher caution levels than others, and some name specific regions to avoid. Bangladesh is one example: the US State Department rates it Level 2 and says not to travel to the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Each of our guides names the official advisories and any regions to avoid near the top, so read that before you plan.
Visa routes differ too. Many countries offer an official e-visa portal, some allow visa on arrival for certain nationalities, and some require an embassy application. The visa guide for each destination links to the official source, which you should always confirm.
Seasons Differ Across Asia
South and Southeast Asia have wet and dry seasons that change by country and by region, and the best months for one destination can be the worst for another. Each guide has a month-by-month table, so use it to compare your travel dates before you book flights.
How to Choose Where to Start
- Choose the visa guide first if your passport needs a visa for more than one destination on your list.
- Choose the best time to visit guide first if your dates are fixed, then pick the destinations that match them.
- Choose the itinerary guide first if you want to compare trip lengths and travel times between places.
Common Mistakes
- Planning a route through a region that governments tell travellers to avoid.
- Assuming a visa-free or e-visa rule applies to every nationality.
- Booking a trip in the middle of the monsoon without checking regional weather.
Asia Travel Guides FAQs
Which Asia guide should I read first?
Start with the visa and safety notes for the destination you’re considering. They affect whether and how you travel, and the other guides build on them.
Can I use one visa for several Asian countries?
Generally not. Most destinations here set their own entry rules, so check each country’s visa guide and its official source.
How often are these guides updated?
Each guide shows a last checked date near the top. Advisories, visa rules and fees change often, so confirm them before you travel.
