Free Travel Checklist

Use this checklist before every international trip. Tick items off as you go, or print the page if you prefer paper. Rules change by country, so always confirm entry requirements on official government websites.

Documents

• ☐ Check your passport expiry date and the passport validity rule for your destination
• ☐ Check visa or eVisa rules for your passport on the official government site
• ☐ Read your own government’s current travel advice for the destination
• ☐ Save digital copies of your passport, visa, tickets and hotel bookings
• ☐ Keep a printed copy of your first hotel booking and return ticket
• ☐ Complete any required online arrival form before you fly

Money

• ☐ Tell your bank you are travelling and check your card works abroad
• ☐ Carry a backup card and keep it in a different place from your main card
• ☐ Bring a small amount of local cash for your first day
• ☐ Check ATM fees and foreign transaction fees with your bank

Health and insurance

• ☐ Buy travel insurance that covers medical care, delays and the activities you plan
• ☐ Check vaccination or health requirements with an official source or a travel clinic
• ☐ Pack regular medicines in their original packaging, with a doctor’s note if needed
• ☐ Save the local emergency numbers and your insurer’s helpline

Phone and tech

• ☐ Set up an eSIM or check roaming costs
• ☐ Download offline maps and your key bookings
• ☐ Check the plug type and voltage, and pack a travel adapter
• ☐ Pack a power bank and charging cables in your cabin bag
• ☐ Back up your phone photos and important files

Packing

• ☐ Check the weather for each place on your route
• ☐ Pack comfortable walking shoes and one layer for cold or rain
• ☐ Pack modest clothing for religious sites if you plan to visit them
• ☐ Check your airline’s baggage rules for cabin and checked bags
• ☐ Keep valuables, medicines and documents in your cabin bag

Before you leave home

• ☐ Share your itinerary with someone you trust
• ☐ Check in online and download your boarding pass
• ☐ Arrange transport to the airport and allow extra time
• ☐ Lock up, switch off appliances and check your home is secure

On arrival

• ☐ Keep your passport and arrival documents easy to reach
• ☐ Use licensed taxis or a ride-hailing app, and agree on the price or meter first
• ☐ Check your hotel address is saved in the local language if possible
