Flight Times and Booking Tips
We don’t list flight durations, because they vary by route, aircraft and season. Check your airline’s schedule for the exact time.
- Book a flexible fare from June to November, when storms can cause delays.
- Book early for December to April, the busiest months. See the best time to visit Belize guide.
- Leave a long buffer between any local leg and your international departure.
- Keep proof of onward or return travel ready, since airlines may check it at check-in.
- Read your travel insurance terms for weather delays and missed connections.
Time Zone
Belize uses Central Standard Time (UTC-6) and doesn’t observe daylight saving time, according to the US State Department. That means the time difference with many countries changes twice a year, when they change their clocks.

Flights to Belize FAQs
Is there more than one international airport in Belize?
No. Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport is the only one. Other airports and airstrips in the country handle domestic flights on small planes, which our getting around guide covers.
How long is the flight from the US?
It depends on your departure city and whether the flight is direct. Direct flights come from several North American hubs. We don’t list durations, because they vary by route and season. Check your airline’s schedule.
Do I need a taxi from the airport?
For most trips, yes. Taxis or hotel transfers are the main options, and you’ll need one to reach the water taxi terminals. Book ahead if you arrive late.
Can I fly straight to the islands?
Not from abroad. International flights land at Belize City, and you then take a short domestic flight or a water taxi to San Pedro or Caye Caulker. Leave a buffer between connections.
