Flights to Argentina: Airports, Airlines and Planning Tips

Which airports serve Argentina, how to reach Buenos Aires from Ezeiza and Aeroparque, main airlines and a checklist before you fly.

Flying to Argentina usually means landing in Buenos Aires, but the city has more than one airport. The right one depends on where your flight starts, so check the airport code before you pay for anything else.

Quick answer: Most long-haul flights to Argentina arrive at Ezeiza (EZE), which is about 32 km from central Buenos Aires. The ride into the city takes 45 minutes to an hour by car, and up to 90 minutes in heavy traffic or rain. Aeroparque (AEP) is closer to the centre but mainly serves domestic and regional routes.

Ezeiza Runway Works Until 11 November 2026

Ezeiza is running with reduced runway capacity from 25 October to 11 November 2026, while operator Aeropuertos Argentina rehabilitates the secondary runway and its crossing with the main one. Argentine news outlets report that 14 international airlines suspended their direct flights to Ezeiza for this period, and others changed schedules, aircraft or added technical stops. Domestic flights continue.

If you fly on or before 11 November, check your booking and your airline’s messages before you leave for the airport. Journey times on some routes may be longer than usual because of the extra stops.

Some sources also list El Palomar (EPA) as a third Buenos Aires airport used by low-cost carriers. A few other Argentine cities have scheduled international flights, mostly to neighbouring countries, but overseas arrivals still use Ezeiza. Check the airport code on every booking, and read the official Buenos Aires getting here page for the current list. The operator’s site, Aeropuertos Argentina, shows live arrivals and departures.

Which Airlines Fly to Argentina?

Aerolíneas Argentinas is the national airline. It said it would keep its international programme largely unchanged during the Ezeiza works, including regular flights to Miami, Punta Cana, Cancún and Aruba.

Reports on the runway works also name Aeroméxico, Air Canada, Air France, American Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, Iberia, Air Europa, ITA Airways, United and Copa Airlines among the carriers serving Buenos Aires. Routes and frequencies change by season, so compare options on a flight search site and confirm them on the airline’s own page. We don’t list fares or flight times here, because they depend on the route, the stops and the date.

How to Get From Ezeiza Airport to Buenos Aires

The Argentine tourism board (Visit Argentina) describes these options for the trip to the city:

  • Bus line 8: The cheapest option. The semi-express service reaches Plaza de Mayo in just over an hour, and you can pay with a debit or credit card or a SUBE card. The stop is in the arrivals and departures area of Terminal C.
  • Manuel Tienda León minibus: Direct trips downtown or to the company’s terminal in Puerto Madero, at a fixed fare. It suits travellers with moderate luggage.
  • Official taxi: Book at the Taxi Ezeiza Oficial counter when you leave arrivals. It runs 24 hours a day, and you can also book ahead on its website.
  • Remis (private hire car): Hire one at a company counter at the arrivals exit. The fare is fixed by destination, so ask whether tolls are included.
  • Uber or Cabify: Order through the app and meet the driver at the signposted points at the arrivals exit. The fare shows in the app before you confirm.
  • Car rental: Counters at the arrivals exit deliver cars inside the airport grounds. Book ahead through the company’s website or app.

From Aeroparque (AEP)

Aeroparque is much closer to the centre than Ezeiza, so a taxi or app ride is short. Traffic is the main factor in journey time. City buses also serve the airport.

Which Transfer Should You Choose?

  • Choose bus line 8 if you travel light and want the lowest cost.
  • Choose a remis or official taxi if you arrive late or carry heavy bags.
  • Choose the Tienda León minibus if you want a fixed fare and a drop-off at a central terminal.
  • Choose an app ride if you prefer to see the price and pay by card before you set off.

Time Zone

Argentina uses UTC-3 all year and doesn’t observe daylight saving time. The time difference with your home country can change when your clocks change, so recheck it before you schedule hotel check-ins or calls.

Booking Tips for Flights to Argentina

  • Compare an open-jaw ticket, where you land in one city and fly home from another, with a round trip. It can save a backtracking flight in a country this large.
  • Match the name on your ticket to your passport exactly.
  • Read the baggage rules for any connecting leg, because limits can differ from your long-haul ticket.
  • Avoid tight connections that change airports in Buenos Aires. Allow several hours and read the guide to getting around Argentina for the domestic leg.
  • Check the season before you fix dates. The best time to visit Argentina guide shows when Patagonia and Iguazú are busiest.

Before You Fly Checklist

  • Confirm your visa or AVE rules in the Argentina visa guide for tourists.
  • Print the approved AVE if you need one.
  • Check your passport validity and free pages.
  • Buy travel health insurance and keep the certificate on your phone and on paper.
  • Check your flight status and airport code in the days before you travel.
  • Save the address of your first hotel. The where to stay in Argentina guide helps you choose an area near your arrival airport.
  • Arrive about 3 hours before an international flight.

Common Mistakes

  • Assuming every international flight lands at Ezeiza. Some regional flights use Aeroparque.
  • Accepting rides from drivers who approach you in the arrivals hall instead of using the counters or apps.
  • Booking a same-day onward flight from a different Buenos Aires airport without enough time.
